Volunteers are the backbone of the Swim Across America Family. Even if you aren’t a swimmer, you can still help us in the fight against cancer. Whether guiding swimmers safely to shore, captaining a boat or kayaking beside a swimmer in the last stretch of the course, volunteers ensure that our events run smoothly from beginning to end.
From their leadership and coordination to final contribution, the passion and energy of our volunteers is unmatched. We always look forward to adding more dedicated land-lovers to the SAA Family. Don’t forget, volunteers can fundraise too if they want!
Land Volunteers staff all aspects of our event on land and at any pool swim. Volunteer check-in begins early at most events with event set up, registration, and logistical support at the finish line on the beach and post-swim events.
Boaters provide crucial logistical support for all swimmers and event officials. Our boaters line the perimeter of the swim lane and are available for additional support if needed.
Kayakers provide the first layer of safety for our swimmers. Kayakers patrol the swim lane, keep an active eye on all our swimmers and communicate any swimmer issues to our event officials for immediate response.
Stand-Up Paddleboarders provide another first layer of safety for our swimmers by keeping an active eye on all our swimmers and communicating any swimmer issues to our event officials for immediate response.
