Hello Everyone,
My name is Matthew Sprague, and I have been fortunate to have parents who encouraged me to swim throughout my life. I remember my parents and siblings coming to watch me swim in summer league, attending early morning swim meets throughout the year, and who could forget carpooling to and from practices? These are some of my best memories, and the gift of swimming is something I continue to enjoy to this day.
I will always remember my mom saying, after my last “official” meet, that she was sad she wouldn’t get to see me swim anymore. Sadly, we lost her to cancer in 2017, but I have found my way back to swimming through GrownUp Swimming, the organization and team I am a part of for this fundraiser. I think about my mom every time I swim, especially when I’m up on the blocks before a race, and I can’t think of a better event to do in her honor.
If you would like to sponsor me, please do so using this page. Thank you so much in advance—your contribution means the world to me and to the families fighting cancer every day.
More info about the organization:
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission and want to help give more families hope. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
