Welcome to My Personal Page
Many of you know that I swim laps regularly at our local pool. What some of you may not know is that open water swimming is my true love. On 9/15, I will be participating in Swim Across America, an open water swim to raise funds for the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. This swim holds special significance for me this year as I will be swimming in memory of my birthmother Mary Reinert and in honor of my dear friend and colleague John Thomson (JT), who has shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of his new diagnosis.
Mary was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Her kindness, courage, and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on all of us. Even though Mary thought that swimming laps would be incredibly boring, she loved aerobics at her local pool. Though she is no longer with us, her memory continues to inspire her family daily. Similarly, JT has shown incredible bravery and hope with his recent diagnosis, surgery, recovery and upcoming treatment. This swim is my way of paying tribute to both Mary and JT, and of supporting the incredible work being done in the Swim Across America Lab at the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center.
The Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center is renowned for its cutting-edge research and compassionate care. Their mission is to find innovative treatments and cures for cancer, and they provide vital support for patients and their families. By contributing to this cause, you are helping to advance cancer research, improve treatment options, and ultimately save lives.
Please consider donating because your generous contribution will not only honor the memory of Mary and celebrate JT's strength but will also make a tangible difference in the fight against cancer. Also, as long as there is no commenting on me in my goggles, swim cap, swimsuit and wetsuit shirt, you are more than welcome to come to the swim. Just say the word and I will give you all the details!
