In November 2018, a week and a half after his second daughter was born, my younger brother, Tim, was diagnosed with stomach cancer. A few weeks later, we found out it was Stage 4. Just past the two year mark of his diagnosis, on November 13, 2020, Tim passed at home, with all of us by his side. Two years of treatment, chemo, surgeries. But two years of seeing his daughters grow. We miss him more than words can describe. We swim for Tim, and all the other patients hoping for more time. I dreaded the day we had to say goodbye and by raising money for research, I hope we can give others more time before they may have to face that same dreadful day. Three miles for Tim, for our other family and friends who have faced their own cancer diagnoses and treatments, and for strangers alike.
