Welcome to My Personal Page
On August 10th, I will be "Making Waves in the Fight Against Cancer" by swimming in the Boston Harbor Castle Island Swim for Swim Across America. This challenge means a lot to me, as the money that I raise will benefit cancer research, prevention and treatment.
This year I will be swimming in memory of my brother Mark W. Smith who succumbed to cancer at age 36 after a 4-year battle with a Brain Tumor. I will also be swimming in Memory of my dear Mother Marian who passed away from Lung Cancer. Marian has been a non-smoker her entire life and is one of the 10% of non-smokers who get lung cancer. An estimated 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime. Meanwhile, National Cancer Institute funding for investigative research and clinical trials has decreased 25% the past 10 years. Please support my swim and me by making a donation to my personal fundraising page. Every bit helps and makes a difference in the fight to find a cure. The link to donate is included below. Thank you very much for your support as I "Make Waves to Fight Cancer."
