Sharman's fundraising page
It's been seven years since I completed 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy and I am cured! But sad to say, there are many others who have been managing this relentless disease for years. Every 15 minutes, 50 Americans are diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that. The first Swim Across America I participated in was in 2008 and I will continue to do so until my body says it's time to stop.
Here is a link to the history of Swim Across America if you are interested in the organization’s origins.
The mission of SAA is to “…fund cancer research, clinical trials and patient programs by hosting charity swims.” The funds raised stay within the community in which they are raised. The beneficiaries of the Boston swim are quality-of-life clinical research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and pediatric oncology research at Mass General Hospital of Children Cancer Center.
You can make a credit card donation here or send a check to Swim Across America - Boston, c/o Jamie Mannion, PO Box 206, 300 Broadway Lbby, Revere, MA 02151.
Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
