Tomorrow is the Big Day!
Dear Family and Friends,
2024. Another year. Another year of helping to fund targeted treatments and potential cures for all types of cancers!
On Saturday, August 10th, I will once again swim 2 miles in the very cool, invigorating, and protected water of Pleasure Bay Beach, next to Castle Island in Boston with my Swim Across America team where jellies, sharks, and the Blue Whale sighted off the coast of Gloucester this summer are not invited! Our team is swimming to help raise money for cancer research, prevention, and patient care at the Perini Quality of Life Clinic at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and at Mass General Hospital. In a time with so much uncertainty, I am grateful to be guided by hope and intention.

As most of you know, I participate passionately in Swim Across America in memory of my beautiful big brother Jeff - rarely a day goes by that I don't feel his presence, especially when I am in or on the water. I also participate in memory of my wonderful friends, Tom Regan, Ed Colbert, Michelle Shatford, sister-in-law Patti Welch, and brother-in-law Larry Finn-Welch.
All of these family members and friends displayed inner strength and compassion for others during their journeys with cancer which gave me a clearer understanding of the meaning of life. This year, I am also swimming for a beautiful friend of mine, Jenn Peterson, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. My prayer is that continued research into targeted therapies will give her and her two young daughters hope for the future.
With this strong sense of purpose and commitment to help fund cancer research, we can all improve or save the lives of many of you and so many of those we care for who have been touched by this disease.
