Welcome to Amy's Personal Page
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.
In November of 2022 I lost my husband Terry to glioblastoma. After a July 2022 diagnosis and four months of intense but ultimately unsuccessful treatment, Terry passed. Almost two years later, I am able to catch my breath and reflect. While this was a swift, heart breaking experience, it was also full of love and kindness. The support from our families, our communities and, ultimately, the health care network we created allowed Terry to be comfortable and pain free. I swim so that glioblastoma is not a terminal diagnosis. I swim for the research needed to treat and hopefully cure this disease which is so sly in its ability to evolve undetected. I swim so husbands/wives and fathers/mothers can celebrate their children and grandchildren for many years in the future.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission and want to help give more families hope. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
