In Memory of Toni Sousa- Team Sousa 2024
On December 4th, 2023, my mother, Toni Sousa, passed away peacefully in the early morning after a ten-month fight with pancreatic cancer. She is no longer in pain nor suffering. In lieu of flowers, she asked that we keep fighting for Swim Across America's mission to end cancer for all.
My mom taught me from a very young age to give back. Even though she has passed, I want to honor her in that way. The proceeds from this swim will go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Mass General Hospital for Children's Cancer Center for early-stage funding in clinical trials that may lead to breakthroughs that can save lives in our communities.
Thank you for all the support through this difficult year. My family appreciates it greatly. When registration becomes available, I hope that many of you join for this year's Swim.
My mom has played a huge role as an official in New England Swimming, high school swimming, and collegiate swimming across MA. It only seems right to honor her memory by continuing to swim for a cure.
Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, and/or join me in this swim in loving memory of my mother. Toni's spirit lives on through her loving family in Alabama, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and so many more places. This includes her husband, Paul, and her two kid's Cora and Dalton.
Much love,
Dalton Sousa
