I am once again participating in Swim Across America. SAA in Charlotte raises funds that go directly to suppporting cancer research at Levine's Cancer Institute, where scientists, physicians, and caregivers work tirelessly to provide treatments to cancer patients that extend and enrich the quality of their lives.

For me, SAA is an opportunity to honor my mother and celebrate the joy she brought to my life and the lives of others. My mom was funny, opinionated, curious, compassionate, a great impersonator of witches, a hit-or-miss cook, a 4 Cokes-a-day drinker, a cheese enthusiast, an avid crafter, and a great friend. She was also a victim of glioblastoma, an aggressive and fatal brain cancer that kills 9000 Americans each year. There is no cure or even good treatments for GBM right now, but organizations like SAA offer hope for that possibility. I swim for hope and would love your support.
