In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer.  It hit home hard when a long time, close family friend succumbed to a protracted battle with colon cancer shortly before her oldest daughter was married.  She was in a race with life to see her daughter walk down the aisle and lost that race.  Right now, I am watching a friend battle this disease ... again.  She is fighting back with a grace, elegance, strength and determination that is nothing short of inspirational.  I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.  I am fortunate to be blessed with good health and can use that gift to create attention, give back and help impact a local and extremely worthy cause.
