Cancer has been a problem since the beginning of time, and treatment started in the beginning of the 1900s. While our bodies normally and constantly replace trillions of cells over a lifetime, cancer is the uncontrolled growth of mutated cells. Cancer is a continuing problem, but thankfully on the decline. Cancer is the cause of 1/6 of the world's deaths annually. Swim Accross America supports foundations that are doing cancer research and providing patient programs.
