Swim Across America 2024 - Anna Lang
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.
I joined Swim Across America to support two members of my family. My cousin William "the warrior" Bonichi was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma when he was 14 months old. He underwent 6 rounds of high dose chemo, 2 major surgeries, 14 rounds of radiation, 7 rounds of immunotherapy, and is currently participating in a clinical vaccine trial. Thankfully Will has been cancer-free for 2+ years, but I realize none of this would be possible without cancer research and modern advancements in cancer treatments. Additionally, my aunt Marva Willhoft has been battling lung cancer for the past two years. She has been traveling to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas for her ongoing cancer treatment. As you can see, this is a personal cause close to my heart as it affects people I love. Together, we can make a difference and help Swim Across America continue its vital work in the fight against cancer.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
