Swimming to find a cure!
On August 3rd, I will be swimming in my 29th Swim Across America- Chicago event and I can't wait to see my Swim Across America family and friends! My goal is to raise $3,000 to support early stage cancer research and clinical trials at Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center.
I am extremely proud of how SAA has grown and the real impact the organization has had on funding research and clinical trials. Since 1987, SAA has raised over $100 million through 20 open swims around the country that benefit the top Cancer Research Centers with 9 named Swim Across America Labs demonstrating our commitment and partnership with our beneficiaries. Swim Across America has a proven track record of identifying and funding early-stage ideas of promise. Swim Across America grants have played a major role in clinically developing FDA-approved immunotherapy treatments ipilimumab (YERVOY), nivolumab (OPDIVO), pembrolizumab (KEYTRUDA), and atezolizumab (TECENTRIQ).
Since partnering with Rush in 2012, we have raised over $2.5 million and in recognition have a dedicated Swim Across America Lab
We have all been touched by this horrible disease- family, friends, colleagues- sadly I have lost 2 of my original Swim Across America team mates- Russ Haffner- who our team is named in honor of and Amos Coffman. But, there is hope and real progress being made to find a cure!
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. All donations big and small add up and truly make a difference. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives.
Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure! There is hope!
