Julie's Story
I have cancer. I had cancer in 2015 and was in remission until December 2022. I'm in treatment - a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. One of the immunotherapy agents I've been on is Keytruda. Swim Across America funded an early career investigator whose research helped lead to Keytruda! This wasn't available to me in 2015. Grants from Swim Across America are critical to advancing scientific breakthroughs and supporting clinical trials to provide new treatment options to patients with cancer, like me. I am hooked on Swim Across America and super excited about this year's swim.
Cancer doesn't stop. In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by participating in the Motor City Mile event and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. THE ROGEL CANCER CENTER IS THE SOLE BENEFICIARY OF THIS EVENT! The funds from last year were given to one of our young investigators conducting research to treat patients with lung cancer. Please support me by sponsoring my involvement and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world!
