WHO WE ARE: MD AnderSWIM is a team led by the Department of Neuro-Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Together our new team captain, Dr. Vinay Puduvalli, Chair of the department of Neuro-Oncology, brain tumor researcher and uber clinician has teamed up with Swim Across America in the fight against cancer ! Our department includes medical doctors, advanced practice nurses, neuropsychologists, researchers, Allied Health and support staff who are ALL dedicated to brain tumor patient care, education and research at MD Anderson. 

WHY WE’RE SWIMMING: MD Anderson Division of Pediatrics and Department of Neuro-Oncology are the beneficiaries of this inaugural Swim Across America Houston event. Our team is committed to making this event a huge  success because we know firsthand the devastation that brain cancer causes. Although a rare cancer in adults, it is the most common cancer in children and one of the most challenging cancers to treat. Current therapies are limited and there has been little improvement to the overall survival of brain cancer patients in recent decades. More research and better therapies are needed to improve the lives of those affected by brain cancer.  

HOW YOU CAN HELP: We are challenging ourselves by swimming in the Houston Open Water Swim and raising money to fight cancer. Please support us by joining our team, volunteering for the event or sponsoring our swim and making a gift. Donations will support adult and pediatric brain tumor research at MD Anderson.
