"Team Team Transplant", Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), will participate for its 16th consecutive summer (and my own personal 20th) on Saturday morning, July 27, 2024, in Swim Across America's 32nd Long Island Sound event. Since its inception, SWIM has nationally raised millions of dollars, which have supported early phase cancer research and clinical trials. This in turn has led to substantial new funding from other peer-reviewed sources, e.,g., Natl Cancer Institute/Natl Institutes of Health (NCI/NIH) and private philanthropic sources...always with enormous thanks to YOU, All funds that "Team Transplant" raises will go directly to MSKCC, with your support specifically targeted to the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
Most recently, Team Transplant has been supporting research and clinical trials involving the microbiome and how optimizing the microbiome can directly improve transplant outcomes, including freedom from relapse. (PLEASE NOTE: Due to MSKCC conflict-of-interest restrictions, NONE of the funds raised by Team Transplant or by the LI Sound Chapter of SAA directly support my own research - and they never have.)

Please mail any checks directly to Swim Across America, P.O. Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538, but be sure the memo line notes that it is for "MSKCC Team Transplant/SWIMMER'S NAME". Alternatively, you can mail your check directly to your sponsored swimmer, and s/he will submit your donation on the event day.
If you are using a dedicated charitable giving account, Swim Across America's tax ID# is 22-324-8256. You will also need to have that check sent directly to Swim Across America, P.O. Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538, but again be sure that it is noted for "MSKCC Team Transplant/SWIMMER'S NAME".
Don't forget about Employer Matching Gift programs. In such cases employers will also need to make checks payable to Swim Across America and use SWIM's tax ID# and Larchmont mailing address above. Once again, please be sure that the check is directed to "MSKCC Team Transplant/SWIMMER'S NAME".
All donations of $250.00 or more will be acknowledged per IRS guildelines. For amounts less than $250, your charge record or cancelled check is sufficient for tax purposes.
Swim Across America, Inc., [SAA] is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming- related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, SAA is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.
