On July 29, 2023, I will be swimming 2K in the Long Island Sound on behalf of Swim Across America. Swim Across America, founded in 1987, has raised over $100 million dollars for cancer research. There has been incredible progress over the years in cancer prevention, screening, and treatment, but there is still so much work left to complete.

On November 12th 2022, our dad, Brian Payne passed away after a two year battle with cancer. We have grown up participating in Swim Across America, swimming beside our dad, and are now proud to swim in his honor. Words will never explain how lucky we are to have had him as our dad. He put up an incredible fight, so let us not remember him when he was sick but rather surrounded by friends and family, cracking jokes, and drinking a Budweiser. 

Cancer has taken too many lives too young; we fight to live in a world with a cure. Donations made to SAA support cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering and give hope to cancer patients and their families.

Team Payne swims in honor of all of those who have also lost a parent, spouse, sibling, or friend to cancer.
