Welcome to Kate Cioffari's Personal Page
I joined the Swim Across America community in memory of my dad and best friend, who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer after a 15-month battle in March 2017. I also swim in support of my mom - the best and strongest person I know who has fought breast cancer!
My dad was my favorite person in the world. Even during the hardest of times, he never lost his sense of humor, evoking smiles and laughter from the Memorial Sloan Kettering staff he befriended during the last year of his life. He was beyond grateful to everyone that helped him, and we could not have imagined better care.
An avid fisherman, "Captain Craig" loved nothing more than waking up at 4am to take his Boston Whaler out on the Long Island Sound in search of striped bass.
My dad spent the final year of his life surrounded by his favorite people, entertaining family and friends. His legacy will be remembered forever - we love you dad!!
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer - a heartbreaking statistic that I hope to change along with the rest of the Swim Across America community.
If you are able, please support me by making a donation. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure! I am hopeful one day we can live in a cancer-free world.
