Jason Hanis' SAA Page
As most of you know, I've been doing swims to raise money and awareness for the last few years for an amazing organization called Swim Across America. I'm committed to this organization as they have funded research that has resulted in treatments successfully used by people I know with great success (think "remission", which means that they see results).
Each year I have swum in memory of my father James Hanis who passed away from melanoma in 2012. As I did last year, I will also be swimming in memory of Stacy Anker who also passed away from melanoma. I did not know Stacy, but I know her mother Judy (who coaches my kids on the Badger Swim Team). It's unfortunate that we have this story in common, but my aim is that by carrying their memories with me, I can make a small difference which can bring hope to other families that will find themselves in dark times as they battle (any type of) cancer together.
This year, I will be swimming 5 kilometers (around 3 miles) on Saturday July 27th in the Long Island Sound out of Larchmont, NY. I ask that you please support me with any contribution that you can afford. I always put my money where my mouth is and have already contributed $500. You are up now! Do I hear $600?
Thank you all for your past support as well as any amount that you can donate this year.
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission and want to help give more families hope. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
