Welcome to My Why
I am participating in the 5k (3.1 mile) charity swim event on July 27th to honor family and friends that have been impacted by cancer. My mother, Louise Kaminer, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2021, just after Grayson and I participated in our first Swim Across America event. This will be my second open water 5k swim, for which I am grateful for being able to do after breaking two ribs in March. I am dedicating this swim to my mother, Jasota T, Allan G, Michele S, Karen B, Aaron K, Stu S, Linda S, Judie O, Andre F, Sindy S, Ruth W. Barney K, Sushila Devi R., Asha L. to name a few. They all inspire me deeply.
This specific event provides funding to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is where my mother is being treated. I would like to thank Dr. Hani Hassoun and the wonderful MSK team for the ongoing care they provide her, and also dedicate this swim to them.
If you are able, please support me and honor these amazing people by making a gift.
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.
With love,
Brian Kaminer
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
