Life is both a daring adventure and tumultuous rollercoaster.
Dear Friends and Long-time Supporters,
For the 12th year since my own cancer diagnosis, I am participating in Nantucket's local Swim Across America Annual Fundraising event. I wish this weren't the case, but this will be my second year dedicating my fundraising campaign to my father, Steve Marcoux. While he beat stage 3 throat cancer back in 2012, my dad is now fighting an aggressive iteration of prostate cancer. We are so proud of him for successfully completing 5 weeks of radiation, but he must now fight his way through chemotherapy and hormonal treatments that are taking their toll.
As you know, there is a cumulative financial burden associated with travel to and from Nantucket for radiation and Dr.'s visits. Our family feels very fortunate my Dad's been able to access both PASCON and the Marla Lamb Fund to defray some of these costs. We feel very fortunate for the help.
So it's incredible important to me to keep supporting all that Swim Across America does for Nantucket.
Most of you know I'm not much of a swimmer, so this year, I've committed several of my cycling adventures to the SAA cause. In May I completed a 71 mile solo bikepacking adventure. In June I road 42 miles in the green mountains of Vermont. In June, my NCH/PASCON teammates Gretchen and Emily and I organized a bike skills clinic, taught by our fellow rider, Patrick Topham.
This month, I'm excited to share another cycling clinic we are hosting Sunday July 7th. This clinic will be open to anyone interested in learning more about riding in groups, riding in a peloton, or close proximity to others. Riders with any kind of bike are welcome to join. Please sign-up by emailing me at caitlin@mindbodysea.net. Your suggested donation of $50 will be go to our SAA cause.
By making a donation you will support other people like my Dad currently fighting cancer. I could not have done with without your support ten years ago and our island still needs your help.
Love,
Caitlin
