Saturday morning I'll be up bright and early, volunteering in the "Nantucket Island Swim" fundraiser to support those, on Nantucket, living with cancer. While I used to swim, now I am a land volunteer helping get the swimmers in the water. Once again, I’ve joined the “Swimming for Moms” team, founded by Pat McEvoy and Tim Farley, two young men who lost their mothers to breast cancer. This year the swim has even more meaning for me, since my sister, Peggy, has been diagnosed with cancer, again, and has just begun chemo treatments to help keep her with us for as long as possible. I stay part of this event for her, to honor the moms, and for everyone who has been affected by cancer in any way
Donations directly support the Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) and Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON) oncology efforts to fund vital services for local and visiting cancer patients, minimizing their need to travel for appointments, testing and treatment. Our support allows NCH oncology programs to keep more Nantucket residents on-island for their cancer care, providing them a compassionate and caring environment. Through PASCON, our patients and families receive important physical, emotional and spiritual care free of charge.
Any donation you can make will be appreciated. Many small donations add up quickly! You can make a credit card donation by clicking on "DONATE" or send a check to Swim Across America - Nantucket, PO Box 3271, Nantucket, MA 02584
Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer/volunteer you are supporting.
Thank you so much!
Liz
