Welcome to Swim Across America-Nashville! Our Team Relay pool swim will take place on TBA, in the Ensworth Natatorium; many thanks to The Ensworth School for hosting (address: Frist Campus, 7401 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221). All ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the Team Relay format in a fun and impactful charity swim. Proceeds will benefit cancer research at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
How to register: Each swimmer will sign up by making a $50 registration self-donation. This donation is a 100% tax deductible and will be credited towards the team’s fundraising minimum of $1,000. Once registered, you will get a fundraising page with a donation link to share with family and friends.
Create or join a team: When you register, you will need to create or join a team. Your team can be a club team, company team, college team, Masters team, survivor team, family team, etc. While there is no limit on the number of team members, we suggest you cap your team at 12. If you have a larger team, you may want to consider registering multiple teams. There is room for 20 teams.
If you are signing up as an individual and you do not have a team to join, please sign up on the Nashville Navy team or contact Chris McPherson.
Relay Format: Teams will swim for 1 hour, with only one swimmer for each team in the water at any given time. There will be no limit to how long or far each team can swim.
Teams get to decide how they will swim their relay. For example, if you want to swim 25s, 50s or longer per person, that is up to the team. You can pick any stroke you want. For the safety of everyone, no gear or fins are allowed.
Each team agrees to provide a counter who will bring yardage to the scoreboard table every 20 minutes.
Take Your Team to the Top: Once a team raises $1,000, the team starts to earn “bonus” yardage. For every $1 raised over $1,000, the team earns 1-bonus yard. For example, if Team A raises $1,500, Team A gets a 500-yard bonus added to its total. If Team B raises $5,000, Team B starts with a 4,000-yard bonus. The "reward” spotlight is on the team that raises the most, not the fastest.
Awards will be given to the top teams that achieve the most yards. Even if your team isn't the fastest - you could still swim the furthest!
All teams pledge to raise a suggested minimum of $1,000 with team members all contributing to the goal. Every participant receives a Swim Across America t-shirt, swim cap and towel. If you raise $1,000 you are acknowledged as a WaveMaker and receive WaveMaker benefits.
WaveMakers go above and beyond by raising at least $1,000 regardless of your age. Anyone can achieve WaveMaker status - swimmers, volunteers or SAA My Way participants. WaveMakers get special recognition and an exclusive WaveMaker gift. You can learn more about WaveMaker Status here.
Participants are asked to kickstart your fundraising. The registration self-donation is a 100% tax deductible donation that will be will be credited towards each swimmer's fundraising minimum.
All swimmers and volunteers must complete the waiver found here.
Swim Across America is committed to providing a safe experience with these policies on event day. Modifications subject to change.
