In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. In June of 2021, my sister, Carolyn was one of those women diagnosed with cancer. Loving thoughts of her children and husband along with thoughts of the many swims she completed in oceans, bays, lakes, rivers, and pools kept her fighting a rare and fast moving cancer that she swam free from in November of 2021. Swimming was one of many connections we shared and it is swimming that keeps memories of Carolyn strong and vibrant for me today. To honor Carolyn and her love of swimming, Steve started Team Carolyn. It has been lovely to be surrounded by Carolyn’s family and friends while participating in one of Carolyn’s favorite activites - open water swimming! All while supporting amazing early cancer research and funding through SAA.
