On August 3, 2024, I will swim the 1 mile for Swim Across America - Nassau/Suffolk.
This will be my 3rd time representing Team Carolyn to help raise funds to support the fight against cancer. I am dedicating my swim to Carolyn Chestler, Richard Finkelstein and Thomas Libretto.
Carolyn was a dear friend that passed in 2022 from lung cancer. Team Carolyn is led by her husband, Steve, who is a top fundraiser for Swim Across America, raising more than $500,000 over the last three years.
Hats off to Steve for all the difference made in helping the doctors and researchers cure this dreaded disease.
I will also be honoring Richard Finkelstein who passed from the same lung cancer in 2022. Richard was a Jones Beach lifeguard at Fld. 6 in 1969 and my best friend at the University of Maryland. Everyone who knew Rich cherishes all the good times spent and now miss him so much.
This year, the Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps lost Thomas M. Libretto, a Robert Moses 2 lifeguard who passed April 2024 from Colorectal Cancer at the age of 42.
Please help support this battle against cancer because together we progress to eradicate this disease forever.
