;While I would love to do the open water swim, I will limit myself to lap swimming this year. The distance across the sound from CT to Long Island varies between 15 and 18 miles - depending on the source. After 12 years of no swimming, I'm committing to 15 miles of laps in a local pool (not sure I'll make 18 miles in 6 weeks...) ahead of cheering on my co-workers on 3rd August at Prybil Beach!I have joined this event to honor some close family and friends who are currently battling this vicious disease and to celebrate my mother who has just celebrated 22 years of being cancer free. Her recovery, and that of others I am close to, is due to advances made in detection and treatment - thanks to research funds like the ones SAA aims to raise. While it is just one of the organizations that is supported through this swim, I am impressed and grateful for the team at MSK!If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Thank you!Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care. #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
