Over a period of five years or so during the early 2000s, as a member of the Swim Across America (Nassau/Suffolk) committee, I was fortunate enough to have had responsibility for evaluating beneficiaries to receive the funds raised. It is so rewarding to see how all the promise that those beneficiaries exhibited then has been fully realized in the years since. Treatments that were in early stages of testing then are today standards in cancer medicine and hoped-for cures are now fully proven and widely used. In general, cancer is no longer the death sentence it had been. But there is still so much work still to do to fully defeat this scourge.
My experience has shown that the funds raised by Swim Across America and from this event can and do make a real difference. If you feel likewise, please sponsor me as generously as you can. Any amount is gratefully received and will be fully and well directed.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
