2024 Carolina Community Swim: Dr. Dana Michele Greene PhD

I will be swimming with Team REDBIRD in the Swim Across America event in Chapel Hill on September 28. We will be swimming for Sue Walsh and her current fight against stage IV Colon Cancer. Sue's initial cancer was diagnosed in 2019 and then returned in 2022.

Sue is a long-time friend and fellow teammate whom everyone admires and adores. She is a fierce competitor and continues to fight this horrible illness. We are rallying behind Sue to show her our support.

I am also swimming in support of Bruce Rickert who was diagnosed in June 2023 with stage IV Glioblastoma. Following a craniotomy to remove as much of the tumor as possible (surgeons could not get it all), Bruce has been undergoing intensive treatments and is continuing to fight this terrible disease with his usual good humor, tenacity, and stubborn determination.
