We all know someone who has been effected by cancer, unfortunately. This is my third year working with Swim Across America and I am honored to be joining an event that raises funds for cancer RESEARCH. How can we treat specific cancers? How can we better our tests? How do we improve early detection? This is what our raised funds go to. This year, our funds are benefiting the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our event is in memory of the late Eric Montross.

This event is incredibly special to me as a cancer survivor and as many family members have been diagnosed with cancer as well. This year, I am swimming in honor of my Uncle John who lost his very long, tough battle to cancer. He was one of the strongest men I had the privileged of knowing.
