I swim for my mom, Barbara!
Founded in 1987, Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. Since then, Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care. The RI swim supports cancer research at Women and Infants Hospital.
In October 1988, my mom, Barbara Larned, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and my family and I quickly learned so much. My siblings and I were called home as she was given a short time to live which turned into 6 years thanks to the doctors and all involved at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence. My mom lived to see 4 more grandchildren born and she got to be at my wedding in 1993 before passing away June 24, 1995.
She loved to swim so this is such a natural fit for me.
I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission and want to help give more families hope. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer.
