Welcome to John Vivadelli's Personal Page
Hi everyone, it's year 4 of my journey to battle cancer through fundraising with the Swim Across America community, My swim is for 2 miles and will be hosted at Quest Swimming in Richmond, VA. The venue was changed from open water to pool to broaden and increase participation!
I swim to honor my beautiful sister Angela who passed due to breast cancer. I also swim for a college buddy, Robert "Bob" Ravnaas who is battling multiple myloma and recovering from the brutal treatment required to put this miserable disease into remission. But he is a Tough Texan now and will come out strong! A very special Masters Swimming teammate, George Sushkoff, is one of my friends who is now officially in remission after a year long battle. SAA has been tremendous in helping George get the treatment he needed quickly.
These people, and too many others, are not alone... In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer.
While this effort seems to be miniscule in comparison to the need, the aggregate of everyone's efforts will win the day. If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community, and some of the finest are friends right here at VCU.
We need better treatment options that are less painful and more successful than those currently available. That can only come through better research to bring new skills, ideas, technologies and processes, all of which cost huge sums of money.
Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
