Mary's Swim Across America San Francisco Page!!
Hi All My Friends!!
It's that time again to jump into the San Fran Bay in the fight against cancer. I am a two time cancer survivor - first facing the disease in 1999 when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. As you can imagine, it really rocked my world to have a cancer diagnosis at the age of 33. With surgery to remove my thyroid, and several rounds of radiation treatment, I was successfully in remission. Then in 2018, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and again successfully treated with surgery (two of them!) and radiation. The aspect of cancer that is often not discussed is how much it affects your mental health. I had a really hard time wrapping my head around it at a younger age, but it was equally stressful more recently. One way for me to clear my head of all the crazy thoughts, and to improve my mental attitude, as well as my physical well being is to do something that I love, which is swimming! Swimming is my way to be able to survive the challenges of cancer both mentally and physically. Please join me in this battle by making a donation to my swim. The money raised goes to funding the search for a cure, but also to all aspects of treatment. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together we can make waves to Fight Cancer! And once again, I am honored to be a part of Team Susan Survives. LET'S DO THIS!! Much Love. ❤❤
Some facts for you:
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the Swim Across America community so that, together, we can change that.
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
