Thank You for Helping to Fight Cancer!
For the last 10 years (or more!) I have swum (2 miles in the lake!) and donated to Swim Across America, in honor of my friends who have fought cancer, and for the cancer research, treatment and cures that touch all of our lives. My kids have all swum and volunteered with me, and this year our (entire, blended) family is putting extra effort into fundraising and involvement (and either swimming or volunteering for the event). We see cancer increasingly impacting everyone's lives, and marking 12 years since Team Shelly first swam in support of Shelly Baker (Neil's first wife, Betty and Rhodes mama, and an inspiring friend and woman in my life!).
The money raised supports seed research for incredible cancer breakthroughs - this is essential work and being powerfully done in our region. I joined Swim Across America because I believe in their mission, know that this event is well run and contributions DO go directly to the cause, and I want to help give more families hope. Most of you know I am shy about fundraising unless and issue is truly dear to my heart. If you are able, please support me by making a donation to help our team's contribution to fighting cancer.
Thank you for helping me #MakeWavesToFightCancer. And if you are in Seattle on Saturday, September 9, please feel free to join the event on water or on the shore, to see the impact. It is a special community and special day.
THANK YOU!
