Swim Across America has hosted charity swims with one goal: to raise money for innovative cancer research that would lead to breakthrough treatments and therapies. As of now Swim Across America has raised over $100M to fund the next generation of pioneers in oncology and cancer-support care. 

The team of Benoit that I swim for was founded by Matt Benoit who passed away from cancer.  He is also the son of my friend, Dan Benoit.  Dan also lost his wife, Kalany, to lung cancer a couple years before Matt.  Dan asked me to swim to support Matt's team eight years ago, though I was not a swimmer.  I have swam every year since.  I swim three days a week early in the morning, approximately a mile, to get ready for the event.  Though I am still not a very good swimmer, I get the job done to support Dan and my own health.  

I, too, had a visit from cancer, prostate, a few years back and was treated with 45 days of radiation.  Thankful as of today the cancer has not returned.  Cancer is a terrible disease that effects most families in some way and research needs to continue.  The funds we raise go directly to Fred Hutch for research.  So please take a moment and support this worthy cause.
