Lauren Ray
Hey! My name is Lauren Ray, and I swim on the Select Team of Granite Falls Makos. Two years ago, my dad, Ed Ray, was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, which is an incurable brain tumor. He went through chemotherapy, radiation, a clinical trial, and more. Unfortunately, after putting up a strong fight against cancer for almost two years, he passed away. Shortly after his passing, I found a flyer at a swim meet for Swim Across America, an organization that raises money for cancer research and treatment, and immediately signed up. For the past two years, my friends, teammates, and I have swam at two events through Swim Across America and raised over $15,000.
However, since this swim wasn’t at Granite Falls, I was unable to have other teammates join me in fighting for the cause. So, this year, I worked with Swim Across America to host a swim here at Granite Falls! I absolutely love this organization and everything they do to help fight cancer and find a cure!
In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. I joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. I am challenging myself by swimming and raising as much money to fight cancer as I can. Please support me by sponsoring my swim and making a gift. The money you give will go towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact in the fight to find a cure. Thank you for your generosity and may it lead to a cancer-free world! You can make a credit card donation here, or send a check to Swim Across America, 8508 Park Rd. #389, Charlotte, NC 28210.
Check should be made out to Swim Across America but please include a note mentioning my name as the swimmer you are supporting!
