Welcome to Violet Pelletier's Page
My name is Violet and I am 9 years old. My dad was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, an uncommon cancer that often originated in the salivary glands, years before I was born. Although typically a slow growing cancer, ACC is difficult to treat because it does not respond well to standard treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. But that didn’t stop my dad from fighting his cancer with everything he had and taking part in any treatment option that was available to him. He wanted more time with me, my sisters, my mom, and all the rest of his family and friends. His fight came to an end February of 2022. Even though he had cancer for most of my life, his final days came very quickly in the end…we were not well prepared. It’s just not fair.
This is my second year swimming and raising money for Swim Across America. This year will be a little different because we we are hosting the fundraising event at Granite Falls; the same pool I practice in 5 days a week! I can’t think of a better way to honor my dad than by swimming this fundraiser event. My dad was a swimmer, too. He was always so proud of me and my swimming; I know he’d be proud that I’m doing this fundraiser.
I love you, Daddy, and I miss you every day. I’m swimming this for you.
If you are able, please support me by making a gift. The researchers we are funding are in our community and are the next generation of cancer pioneers. Without Swim Across America early stage funding, they are not able to conduct trials that can lead to breakthroughs that can save lives. Thank you for helping make an impact in the fight to find a cure!
