Fairfield County Swim League Pool Swims

Lake Club

Dear Lake Club Members,

Friday, July 19, we are excited to welcome Swim Across America back to the Lake Club pool. Swim Across America is an organization that funds “cancer research, clinical trials and patient programs by hosting charity swims.” SAA events are held both in open water, such as the Long Island Sound, and at various pools around the country.

In our lifetime, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. The Lake Club has joined the SAA community so that, together, we can change that. Any amount of money that you give will go toward cancer research, prevention and treatment and will make an impact int he fight to find a cure.

Our aquatics program as a whole will be swimming with the DuBrock family in our minds and hearts, as young Greta DuBrock continues to battle cancer. For many years the DuBrock family has played an active role in both our aquatics program and our club community at large, and we encourage you to come out in support of their entire family as they continue to fight through this difficult time.

Additionally, your life has likely been touched in some form by cancer, and we will be thinking of all our friends and family members as we swim to raise money for this important cause.

Our Lake Club Swim, Dive and Water Polo Teams will participate during practice times on Friday morning, and Swim Across America will be at the pool throughout the day with swag gear such as banners, flags, swim caps and temporary tattoos. Swimmers can do laps; divers can dive or cannonball; water polo players can tread water, shoot goals or scrimmage - everyone can participate in their own way!

In addition to our aquatics participants, we will keep at least one lane open throughout the day for any member to come in and swim laps to raise money for cancer. We encourage you to consider swimming to raise money from a sponsor (i.e one dollar per lap), or swimming in 15 minute increments as “every 15 minutes, 50 Americans are diagnosed with cancer.” If the lanes are full, please ask a lifeguard to assist you so that you are able to get your laps in.

If you are unable to participate on July 19, please consider making a tax-deductible donation. Donations can be made the remainder of July and August.

We hope you will join us to “make waves to fight cancer!” Thank you for your generosity, and may it lead to a cancer-free world!

Sincerely,

Mark DeSimone

Head Aquatics Coach
